DVR Relay
If installing the DVR with 5 pin relay then the DVR ignition (yellow fly lead on the DVR power connector) should be connected to pin 87 of the relay instead of a switched ignition feed. This means the MotiaCalamp will control the power to the DVR by toggling the relay on/off when the Motia Calamp ignition feed is turned on or off. The DVR will still complete its ACC shutdown timer (default 60 mins) when the Motia Calamp ignition is turned off.

LTA (Left Turn Alarm) Relay
If installing the LTA with 5 pin relay then the LTA speaker main power feed should not be connected to a permanent power feed, but instead to pin 87 of the relay instead of a switched ignition feed. This means the Motia Calamp will control the power to the LTA based on the ignition state of the Calamp and the time of day (daytime only).

Testing/Troubleshooting Relays
When installing relays or doing a service call on them it is very important to test they function as expected. The expected behaviour of each of the relays pins is as follows, you should hear the relay click within a few seconds of the vehicle ignition (Calamp white wire +Ve) being switched on:
- Pins 30 + 85 should read +Ve 12v/24v permanently and confirm a good power connection to the relay.
- Pin 86 with the ignition off should read +Ve 12v/24v, and when the ignition is switched on should read 0v. ***For the LTA relay this will only switch to 0v during the day***
- Pin 87 with the ignition off should read 0v, and when the ignition is switch on should read 12/24v. ***For the LTA relay this will only switch to 12/24vv during the day***
Due to the ability to program the tracking unit (Calamp) there are 4 different methods of wiring a 5 pin relay to connect to our services. Please check the below configuration options, our preference is the 5.1 method but if you have wired in 5.3, 5.4 or 5.5 and are unable to change the wiring please contact the Motia Support Team with the device serial number or IMEI and request they change the config version to the required config number below.
5.1 – Standard (115k, LTA Out 0, DVR Out 1, DAP Out 2 Enabled) *MOTIA PREFERRED METHOD*
Relays both wired normally closed, two options below are based on the 85/86 pinning of the supply and trigger.
LTA Relay

AND
DVR Relay

5.3 - Both Relays Inverted (115k, LTA Out 0, DVR Out 1, DAP Out 2 Enabled)
Relays both wired normally opened, two options below are based on the 85/86 pinning of the supply and trigger.
LTA Relay
AND
DVR Relay
5.4 - DVR Relay Inverted (115k, LTA Out 0, DVR Out 1, DAP Out 2 Enabled)
LTA Relay normally closed pin 87 output, DVR Relay normally open pin 87a output
LTA Relay

AND
DVR Relay
5.5 - LTA Relay Inverted (115k, LTA Out 0, DVR Out 1, DAP Out 2 Enabled)
LTA Relay normally open pin 87a output, DVR Relay normally closed pin 87 output
LTA Relay
AND
DVR Relay
